Val Carpenter is the new mayor effective Nov. 22. The young Jarret Fishpaw is the new mayor pro tem.
Carpenter says her goals will be to hire a new city manager, because Doug Schmitz will retire in the spring of 2012. Also she expects to push ahead with the Community Center Master Plan. The council has already approved the plan. Next up is securing Phase I funding, making detailed plans and breaking ground. Funding is expected to be in the form of a bond issue which will require voter approval.
Fishpaw expects to work with citizen who have issues with the city including issues with the Community Center Master Plan.
