California Schools Guide is the Los Angeles Times’ database of test scores, demographics and reader comments about California’s public, charter and private schools. Below we list the diversity index for our schools. 10 means the most diverse.
“Diverse” as measured here is not really just about having high percentages of minorities. Rather it is about having all groups represented equally. For example, a school that is majority Asian and gets more Asian become less diverse with a lower index score.

Montclaire is part of Cupertino Union — not LASD — but it is interesting to compare the diversity scores of schools which are “along” Foothill Expressway, like Gardner Bullis 5, Loyola 6, and Montclaire 6. If you drive through these areas — or if you are a residential real estate agent –without even pouring through data you can “see” and you can “know” that all these attendance areas 1) exhibit high economic segregation and 2) include a large number of estates in the incorporated and unincorporated “hills” serving the children of billionaires and bosses.
