Los Altos "Takings" by Lennar was averted in the Chester Circle Neighborhood

The Lennar Los Altos project was awarded all it permits by the Los Altos Planning Commission on May 17. Here are 7 minutes of the best video excerpts from the meeting reviewing the Lennar Los Altos project – that is the construction which is going in on the Garden Supply parcel behind Marie Callendars and The Vitamin Shop. The architect showed views from El Camino,  building renderings, site plans and explained parking and traffic flows.  Basically there are luxury apartments over ground floor retail in the front, and 38 town homes in the back.  Originally, version 0.1 of the plan called for access to the Lennar town homes from Chester circle, but the  neighbors objected.  Actually, to have such rear access to the parcel would have entailed exercise of eminent domain on one of the homes along the circle. Jon Baer alluded to the 2010 dustup and stated unequivocally he is against “takings.” Now in the final plan, all auto ingress and egress is from El Camino.  As an amenity for Lennar residents as well as for the Sherwood neighborhood residents, a  pedestrian-bike connection to Sherwood Avenue is planned.
